Broncos Bring Back Veteran WR Lil”Jordan Humphrey from Giants Practice Squad

The Denver Broncos are welcoming back a familiar face at wide receiver, as they have signed Lil”Jordan Humphrey off the practice squad of the New York Giants. This move was confirmed by Humphrey”s agent, Jimmy Gould, to The Denver Post on Wednesday.

Humphrey previously spent two seasons with the Broncos from 2023 to 2024, where he became an important run-blocker in Sean Payton“s offensive scheme. He had a career-high performance in 2024, recording 31 receptions for 293 yards. According to Gould, Broncos general manager George Paton reached out to him on Wednesday morning, expressing that Humphrey is thrilled about reuniting with the Broncos and Payton, who also coached him for two seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

The Broncos have indicated that Humphrey will be active for their upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Initially, the Broncos had offered Humphrey a one-year contract to return during the offseason, but he opted to join the Giants in search of a more significant opportunity. Despite spending most of the season on the Giants” practice squad, Humphrey made notable contributions, including a key role in New York”s surprising victory over the Eagles in October, where he caught four passes for 55 yards on eight targets. He also participated in 74 snaps during the Giants” Week 7 matchup against the Broncos.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall, Humphrey is well-versed in Payton”s system and is expected to serve as a run-blocker against the Chiefs, having played over 40% of his offensive snaps in that capacity during his previous seasons in Denver. His signing comes to fill the void created by linebacker Karene Reid, who was placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury on Tuesday. With this addition, the Broncos now have six wide receivers on their active roster, though they typically dress five for game day, which may leave Trent Sherfield, the team”s WR5 and a specialist in run-blocking, inactive for the game against Kansas City.
