Giants add versatile tight end Zach Davidson to practice squad

The New York Giants have made an intriguing addition to their practice squad by signing tight end Zach Davidson, as reported by ESPN”s Jordan Raanan. Standing at 6-foot-7, Davidson brings a unique blend of skills to the team.

Davidson was previously part of the Buffalo Bills, but he was released during the cutdown day in August. His preseason finale with the Bills was particularly eventful, where he found himself involved in a scuffle with Shilo Sanders, prompting an ejection for the Buccaneers” undrafted rookie.

On that same day, Davidson showcased his versatility by stepping in as the Bills” punter, delivering impressive kicks of 62 and 42 yards. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings from Central Missouri State, Davidson has had limited NFL experience, appearing in just two regular season games in 2024 with the Bills. During those games, he caught 1-of-2 targets for a modest 5-yard gain and contributed on special teams.

His considerable size and skill set make him an intriguing prospect for the Giants, who are on the lookout for hidden talent to enhance their roster moving forward. Davidson”s release from the Bills was not due to any shortcomings on his part, but rather the result of a crowded tight end position.

As the Giants aim to uncover promising players for their future, Davidson”s addition could potentially yield positive results in the coming seasons.
