Rams Eyeing Potential Trade for Maxx Crosby from Raiders

The Los Angeles Rams are reportedly considering a trade for Maxx Crosby, the defensive end of the Las Vegas Raiders. Recent insights suggest that the opportunity for such a move may be approaching.

According to Matt Verderame from Sports Illustrated, the Raiders are likely to trade Crosby this offseason. At just 28 years old, Crosby is under contract until the 2029 season and has a manageable cap hit, with only one instance of exceeding $30 million. He has established himself as one of the premier edge rushers in the league, accumulating 52.5 sacks, 137 quarterback hits, and 103 tackles for loss, along with five Pro Bowl selections and two second-team All-Pro honors over the last five seasons.

Given that the Raiders are coming off a disappointing three-win season and face a lengthy rebuilding process, it would be prudent for them to trade Crosby to a contender during the winter months. The Raiders find themselves in a challenging division alongside the reigning AFC top seed, the Denver Broncos, and a Kansas City Chiefs team expected to rebound under the leadership of Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid. The current roster lacks depth beyond Crosby and tight end Brock Bowers, which compels general manager John Spytek to maximize Crosby”s trade value, ideally securing a first-round draft pick along with additional assets.

While discussions about Crosby will likely persist, recent reports indicate that the anticipated trade value might not reach the level previously associated with players like Micah Parsons, who was traded by the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Pro Bowler Kenny Clark. The expectation among teams seems to have shifted, as many are hesitant to pay a premium price similar to what the Cowboys received for Parsons. Consequently, the Raiders may find that Crosby”s market value is somewhat limited.

This presents a unique opportunity for the Rams, who could acquire an elite pass rusher without jeopardizing their future. If the current trends persist as the NFL draft approaches, there is a strong likelihood that the Rams could finalize a trade within two weeks of the draft.

While all of this remains speculative, the potential fit of Crosby in the Rams” defensive scheme is compelling and worthy of consideration.
