Steelers Add Super Bowl Champion Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Practice Squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad as of Tuesday, marking a reunion with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers.

Valdes-Scantling, 31, previously played alongside Rodgers from 2018 to 2021 during their time with the Green Bay Packers. The two-time Super Bowl champion recently spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he secured victories in the Super Bowl in both 2022 and 2023. Before joining the Steelers, he was on the roster of the San Francisco 49ers, where he caught four passes for 40 yards before being released last month.

The Steelers currently lead the AFC North with a record of 5-3. However, they have faced challenges in achieving consistent production from their receiving corps, with only DK Metcalf stepping up. Metcalf leads the team with 29 receptions, while the next four players in terms of receptions are primarily running backs and tight ends.

This addition could provide a much-needed boost to the Steelers” offense as they look to solidify their standing in the division.
