Tom Brady Linked to Maxx Crosby”s Tensions with Raiders

Maxx Crosby has established himself as a formidable player in the NFL, earning five consecutive Pro Bowl selections and two second-team All-Pro honors over the past five years. Despite these personal achievements, his experience with the Las Vegas Raiders has been less than satisfying. The team did reach the playoffs in 2021, but they were eliminated in the first round, leaving Crosby questioning his future with a franchise in a state of flux.

Recent reports suggest that Crosby”s dissatisfaction may be linked to the influence of Tom Brady and his personal advisor, Alex Guerrero. According to Michael Silver from The Athletic, Brady, as a minority owner, cannot always be present, leading Guerrero to take a more active role in team matters, which includes ensuring that players are adhering to team protocols.

Furthermore, NFL insider Albert Breer revealed on the Rich Eisen Show that Crosby felt he was informed that he would be benched towards the end of the 2025 season for the team to pursue the first overall draft pick, a situation often referred to as “tanking.” Breer stated, “You know, right or wrong, I think his perception was that was communicated to him.” This strategy, while common in the league, does not sit well with a player of Crosby”s caliber.

Crosby, a self-made athlete who was drafted in the fourth round, has played only one playoff game in his career. Breer noted that without meaningful team success, Crosby”s pride comes from his individual accolades and his reliability for his teammates. The prospect of having his contributions minimized by a decision from someone outside the team”s coaching staff, particularly Guerrero, likely feels like a betrayal, especially given Crosby”s positive relationships with team ownership, including Mark Davis.

Adding to the frustration, Crosby sought a second opinion regarding a knee injury that resulted in his sidelining. This external medical advice indicated that he could continue to play, further fueling his discontent with the Raiders” decision-making process.

Given the current circumstances, a trade involving Crosby appears increasingly probable. Teams such as the Eagles and Bears have been mentioned as potential suitors. However, the Raiders are reportedly requesting a substantial return, including two first-round picks, which could complicate the trade discussions. The coming weeks will be critical in determining the future of one of the league”s standout defensive ends.
