Trey Hendrickson, the defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, has shared his thoughts on the recent trade of linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys. The two players have been teammates since Hendrickson joined the Bengals as a free agent in 2021, a season that saw the team reach Super Bowl LVI.
With Wilson being benched earlier this season, it became apparent that he might not remain with the Bengals for long. That speculation was confirmed when the team traded him to the Cowboys on Tuesday. Following the announcement, Hendrickson expressed his sadness at losing a friend but also conveyed his happiness for Wilson”s new opportunity.
“I have nothing but respect for the way he handled himself as a professional in times of adversity,” Hendrickson said, as reported by Jay Morrison of SI.com. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a football player and what he”s done in his career. And I have even more respect for how he carries himself as a man and now a captain.”
Hendrickson emphasized the strength of their friendship, stating, “He”s a good friend of mine. Friendships don”t just dissolve in the National Football League. He”ll be a friend for life.”
He also wished Wilson success in Dallas, noting, “There”s nothing but air and opportunity in Dallas for him, and it”s good that he”s going to be back in a linebacker role. That”s where he deserves to be.”
During this season, Wilson started seven games, achieving 46 total tackles and defending four passes, along with recovering one fumble. A third-round draft pick in 2020, Wilson has spent his entire career with the Bengals.
